Human Penis

The human penis is one of the most important organs in the human body. It has many functions. The human penis is the sexual organ which the man uses to achieve sexual satisfaction. Moreover, it is  the male reproductive organ. It is also an excretory organ as liquid waste is flushed out of the human body through it. The human penis is made completely of erectile tissues. It uses blood to sustain an erection. The penis has three tissues, two on the dorsal side and one on the ventral side. These tissues are called the corpora cavernosa and corpus spongiosum.

The human penis is connected to the scrotum via the urethra. Sperm is produced in the scrotum and then discharged into the vagina of the female via the urethra. The penis starts to grow in a boy during puberty and may take years to develop fully. Usually, even  after the boy’s height stops growing, the penis grows for another couple of years. The human penis usually grows from 4.5 to 8 inches. The average human penis size also varies slightly according to race and country.

The human penis is larger and more prominent than most related species. The gorilla's fully erect penis measures about 4 inches. A chimpanzee, which is not even half the size of a gorilla, has a penis double the size of a gorilla’s. Replacing the human penis by surgery, in case of loss, is a very rare and costly surgery. This has been carried out once in China, but the after effects and results are yet to be seen.  Whether the body accepts the new penis and whether if the person can resume normal sexual activity has yet to be determined.
